Pickens County is situated in the upstate region of South Carolina, with its county seat in the city of Pickens. The county’s court system falls within the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit and includes the Circuit Court (divided into the Court of Common Pleas and the Court of General Sessions), Family Court, Probate Court, several Magistrate Courts, and Municipal Courts. The Pickens County Clerk of Court serves as the official custodian of records for civil, criminal, and family court proceedings, while the Probate Court and Magistrate Courts maintain their own separate files. Court records generated across these tribunals document the full spectrum of legal matters heard in the county, from felony prosecutions and contract disputes to divorce proceedings and estate administration.
For those seeking court records in South Carolina, multiple pathways exist through official judicial resources, county clerk offices, and online search tools. The South Carolina Judicial Branch maintains a statewide case records search system covering trial courts across all counties, and SouthCarolinaCourts.us may also assist users in locating publicly available court case information. Public access terminals at courthouses, direct contact with the Clerk of Court, and formal written requests provide additional avenues for obtaining records.
